Holga

I've been working with the plastic piece of crap lately. I've found at least one way to take really nice looking pictures with it: load it with t400cn, put the subject next to a wall and get very close to it, and bounce the flash off the wall. Frigging exquisite. The results I'm getting are a lot more mixed when the subject is more than 3-4 feet away, or when bouncing the flash off a high ceiling. You'll see the results as soon as I rescan them- my initial scans were corrupted by many annoying little fibers left behind by the paper towel I used to clean the scanner.

Chinese Garden for you!

Some shots from the Chinese Garden in downtown Portland. Casey and I went there on New Year's Day.  Posted by Picasa

It was near the beginning of the miserable month-long rainy stretch of ought-5-ought-6. The garden handles the rain well. Posted by Picasa

Some of these interior shots came out quite coolly collage-like. Posted by Picasa

Some nice Holga shots at last!

Some shots of Casey (Scott, for the search engines). I used the Holga with t400cn and the old Sunpak flash that came with my OM. I haven't had a lot of great results with the Holga, but I think now I've found a winning combo with this film and flash. I took some shots in the club during the last Super Plus show with the flash aimed directly at the subject and they still looked great in a Weegee-esque sort of way. The t400cn looks amazing every time I use it and is my new favorite film.  Posted by Picasa

I play Holocene!

Recent show at Holocene. We opened for a band called the Blue Cranes and another group who's name escapes me. It was supposed to be Lower Monumental, but Matt couldn't make it, so we brought Willie in. Here Tim and Willie discuss what tunes to play, which was a mistake. We should have just gone out and winged it.  Posted by Picasa

The cross-processing did cool things with them.  Posted by Picasa

This is the band that played after us. Sort of a Pharoah Sanders cover band. Very blissed out.  Posted by Picasa

Second band again.  Posted by Picasa
